"Located along the magnificent Mahanadi River in Anugola district, Tikarpada is one of the most captivating gateways to the wilderness of Satkosia. The landscape is defined by the spectacular 22-km Satkosia Gorge, where the Mahanadi cuts through the forested hills of the Eastern Ghats, creating a dramatic panorama of deep valleys, rugged slopes and tranquil river waters. The name ‘Satkosia’ derives from sat kos, referring to the length of this remarkable gorge.

The surrounding forests form a rich wildlife habitat supporting elephants, leopards, sambar, spotted deer, wild boar and diverse birdlife. The Mahanadi adds another dimension to this biodiversity, providing an important riverine habitat for gharials and mugger crocodiles.
