Tara Tarini Temple

Perched atop the Kumari Hills overlooking the Rushikulya River Tara Tarini Temple is one of India’s oldest and most revered Shakti shrines. Dedicated to the twin goddesses Tara and Tarini the temple draws devotees year-round offering a powerful blend of faith, history and landscape. What sets this shrine apart is its unique form of worship the sanctum enshrines two sacred stone faces while brass heads represent their Chalanti Pratima or living presence. Revered as one of the four Adi Shakti Peethas, Tara Tarini holds deep significance in Tantric traditions and has long been the presiding deity of the Ganjam region. Its legacy also finds echoes in early Buddhist practices reflecting a rare confluence of spiritual traditions. Set against sweeping river views and hilltop serenity Tara Tarini is not just a place of worship but an immersive spiritual experience rooted in antiquity and devotion.
