Regional Museum of Natural History
"Located in Bhubaneswar, the Regional Museum of Natural History is the only museum of its kind in Eastern India, offering an engaging journey through biodiversity across Odisha, the North-East, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and even parts of Africa and Madagascar. Established in 2004, it blends education with exploration through life-size skeletons of whales, elephants, rhinoceroses and tigers, alongside rare exhibits like the fossilised egg of the extinct Elephant Bird. A standout highlight is the massive Baleen Whale skeleton the largest in India making it a truly unique experience.
Interactive displays, a dedicated children’s gallery and accessible exhibits make the museum especially engaging for young learners, while dedicated sections on ecosystems like Similipal National Park, Bhitarkanika National Park and Chilika Lake bring Odisha’s natural heritage to life. Through workshops, outreach programs and thoughtful design, the museum offers an immersive and inclusive space for anyone curious about the natural world."
