Odi-Art Museum

"Nestled on the shores of Chilika Lake at Barkul, ODI ART is a distinctive folk and tribal art sanctuary dedicated to preserving, celebrating and promoting the rich cultural traditions of Odisha and India. Spread across approximately five acres, the centre brings together curated galleries, art installations, open-air performance spaces and creative learning environments, offering visitors an immersive journey into the world of folk and tribal art. The complex houses the Purvasha Folk and Tribal Art Museum and was inaugurated in 2017.

More than a conventional museum, ODI ART serves as a vibrant cultural space where art, craft, performance and learning come together. Visitors can explore collections inspired by indigenous and folk traditions, experience artworks reflecting the cultural diversity of different communities, and participate in interactive workshops ranging from palm leaf engraving to culinary experiences.

The centre also provides a platform for artists and performers through cultural programmes, workshops and festivals organised throughout the year. Among its notable cultural engagements is the Chilika Shelduck International Folk Carnival, which brings together folk artists and traditions in the picturesque setting of Chilika.

Its location adds another dimension to the visitor experience. A visit to ODI ART can be combined with an exploration of Chilika Lake, including boating and visits to nearby cultural and spiritual attractions. With its lakeside setting, thoughtfully designed cultural spaces and focus on living traditions, ODI ART offers an engaging blend of art, heritage, creativity and cultural learning, making it a distinctive cultural destination in the Chilika region."
