Balasore or Baleswar is a city in the administrative headquarters of Balasore district, about 194 kilometres (121 mi) north of the state capital Bhubaneswar. The city has West Bengal in the north, and the Bay of Bengal to the east.

The Balasore district derives its culture from all the kingdoms and provinces that it was a part of namely the Mughals, The British India, West Bengal and Bihar.
